I know not everyone is an audiobook fan. In this current climate, I’ve been having a difficult time focusing on reading. I have essentially infinite free time but I’ve been struggling to sit down and read. Audiobooks have been my saving grace. I imagine many people are having similar struggles.

I thought I would recommend some great audiobooks for a newbie or anyone looking a great story to take them away.

Harry Potter is a great adventure to get lost in. Due to the current situation, Rowling and and publisher have released #HarryPotterAtHome. There are many fun things online for Potterheads but the nicest thing is there no wait for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (eaudio or ebook) at your local library. Bonus: The copies are even available in a variety of languages.
Basically if you’ve never tried Harry Potter or HP audiobooks, this is the universe telling you to try it!
The Lying Woods by Ashley Elston
Ashley Elston is a master mystery writer. It’s a shame that she’s not more popular in the bookish world.
The Lying Woods was something I downloaded on a whim without knowing anything about it.
It’s a slow paced story with dual storylines that will leave you chilled to the bone with the twist.

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
The Illumiae Files is a superb series. The format (emails, files, IMs, interviews, etc) is endlessly fascinating. It can be a bit overwhelming especially if science fiction is not your favorite genre.
If you can only read one format for this series, audiobook should it. The ensemble cast is amazing. Yes, even if you’re not a sci-fi fan. Yes, even if you don’t like audiobooks.
Just download it and thank me later.
As You Wish by Cary Elwes
Fencing. Fighting. Torture. Poison. True love. Hate. Revenge. Giants. Hunters. Bad men. Good men. Beautiful ladies. Snakes. Spiders. Pain. Death. Brave men. Cowardly men. Strongest men. Chases. Escapes. Lies. Truths. Passion. Miracles.
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably seeking out various forms of media for comfort. The Princess Bride is one of my favorite (comfort) movies.
If you are a fan of the movie, I can’t recommend this audiobook enough. The behind the scenes information makes me love the movie even more.
Cary narrates most of the book [swoon]. Various actors and crew members make appearances for their parts of the story.

Great list! And I think this is a great idea! I’m curious about lying wood and want to check out as you wish! I really liked the physical book for illuminae, but I’ve heard such good things about the audio version, I’d love to reread it in that form!
