I’m back again with another round of pairing young adult books and characters from media. This time I’m featuring the Doctors. New Who is my jam so that’s what I’m focusing on today.
See more book pairings here.

9th Doctor
A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
Rhen and Nine are dealing with a lot of grief and baggage. They feel like the world is on their shoulders.

10th Doctor
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
Thomas and Ten share a sense of adventure, wit, & willingness to do anything for their loved ones. Plus Audrey Rose + Rose? They’d be great friends.

11th Doctor
The second I was introduced to Jackaby, I immediately saw the parallels with Eleven. They’re fast talking, wisecracking, & have a deep sense of justice.

12th Doctor
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
Todd and Twelve will fight for what’s right but along the way, they’ve grown hardened by the wars and terrible things they’ve seen.

13th Doctor
Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery
I’m still on the fence about how I feel about Thirteen. The thing that stood out to me the most about Thirteen was her optimism. She and Anne share unfailingly optimism in the face of anything that life throws at them.
What books would you pair with the Doctors?

Well thought out email! I haven’t read any of the books, but Stalking Jack The Ripper. They are on my list now! I absolutely adore Thomas and Audrey Rose! I haven’t ever watch Doctor Who. I probably really should!

OH YES I LOVE THIS. I WAS VACILLATING (sorry i’ve been studying vocab. it means trying to decide basically) BETWEEN WANTING TO READ STALKING JACK THE RIPPER AND NOT BUT NOW I’M GONNA READ IT. ALSO THE KNIFE OF LETTING GO SOUNDS FABULOUS I WILL READ IT FOR THE DOCTORS.

YES! Stalking Jack the Ripper is a lot of fun. The Knife of Never Letting Go is amazing and being adapted into a movie coming out next year. Hopefully you enjoy it because Patrick Ness is involved with other Doctor Who stuff. He worked on the DW spin off show ‘The Class’ and wrote a story for the 50th anniversary (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17973716-doctor-who).
