I’ve grown really fond of graphic novels over the past few years. They have some really great stories. They also work as a palate cleanser when I’m in a reading slump. Graphic novels are super helpful for bumping the numbers for your Goodreads Reading Challenge. Best of all, there’s a growing number of non-fiction titles being published.
As a library paraprofessional, I encounter many parents/caregivers who don’t share my love of graphic novels. Many of them turn up their noses when their children bring up graphic novels to check out. They still have it in their mind that graphic novels = comic books/superheroes.
I wanted to highlight some of the non-fiction graphic novels out there.
* will indicate the ones that I’ve read.
Hey, Kiddo by Jarrett J. Krosoczka *

The Complete Maus by Art Spiegelman *
The Complete Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

Trinity by Jonathan Fetter-Vorm
Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales by Nathan Hale *
My Friend Dahmer by Derf Backderf
